1. You are not wrong
You’re not wrong for wanting what you want. Neither are you broken if you’re not thriving or feeling good in your current situation or at the present time.
Your dreams, ambitions, attractions, and aversions are there for a reason. They’re worth paying attention to. So is the way your body feels, and what gives and saps your energy. Like everyone else, you have your role to play in the ecosystem, your piece to add. Greater self-awareness helps you refine what that is and find ways for that to happen. In my work I help you consciously connect to the whole of you, and develop ever more trust in what you find.
2. Respecting your need to feel safe
We know that academia as a system isn’t designed to make people feel safe and secure. Chronic evaluation and a sense of scarcity affect the underlying state of your nervous system and makes writing, expansive thinking and open-hearted connection harder to do than they would be otherwise. In my work, I take it as a principle that new ways of being and doing need to be supported by intelligent and gentle ways to create room for these in the nervous system. We all have our defense mechanisms and these need to be respected, even honoured. A body-based, compassionate way of relating to the experience of not feeling safe will increase your capacity for courageous and purposeful action.
3. Celebrating small acts, committing to a path of practice
To change the course of a big ship going across an ocean is a matter of many small adjustments rather than a big jerk in a new direction. It’s similar with making changes to your academic life. Sometimes a radical act is called for, but often it’s a matter of noticing what already energizes you and aligns with your values, and then taking small but noticeable steps to do more of that. Or the opposite: noticing what drains and demotivates you and divesting slowly but surely from those things. It’s amazing how profoundly this can restore and heighten your sense of autonomy and possibility, which is why small acts always merit celebration. It’s also a sustainable and practical way to proceed.

La Dra Sara Gómez tiene a su disposición dispositivos médicos de última tecnología para tratar distintas enfermedades de la piel (fotoenvejecimiento, acné, rosácea, tumores benignos, etc.)
Luz Pulsada Intensa de Nordlys, de Candela
Esta luz pulsada dispone de tres cabezales (555nm, 530nm y 400nm) para mejorar y tratar distintas alteraciones de la piel como manchas marrones (manchas solares o léntigos), manchas rojas (telangiectasias y cuperosis) y textura de la piel (induce la producción de nuevo colágeno y mejora la textura de la piel).
Es un dispositivo muy versátil y no requiere tratamiento anestésico previo ya que suele tolerarse correctamente. Puede oscurecer las manchas tras el tratamiento o inflamar transitoriamente la piel aunque el postoperatorio suele ser asumible.
Frax 1550 de Candela
Consiste en un láser fraccionado no ablativo de erbio que permite incrementar la síntesis de colágeno, mejorar el aspecto de cicatrices y estrías, y mejorar las pieles fotoenvejecidas. Requiere anestesia tópica previa y permite al paciente incorporarse a sus actividades diarias de inmediato ya que solo genera unas horas de enrojecimiento.
CO2RE de Candela
Es un láser de CO2 fraccionado que permite tratar la piel a distintos niveles (desde la zona más superficial hasta la dermis más profunda). Tiene la capacidad de incrementar la síntesis de colágeno, siendo el tratamiento más adecuado para la mejoría de las cicatrices de acné, cicatrices quirúrgicas y traumáticas, potenciar el rejuvenecimiento de la piel (mejorando el aspecto global de la piel y disminuyendo la apariencia de las arrugas finas), y permite eliminar de forma eficaz tumores benignos (nevus melanocíticos dérmicos, queratosis seborreicas, siringomas, xantelasmas, puntos rubí, etc).
